Havoc Demon Hunter
Havoc Demon Hunter Overview

The Havoc Demon Hunter is an outstanding DPS specialization in World of Warcraft, focusing on Agility. This spec is recognized by warglaves and leather armor. It offers AoE bursts and consistent DPS with excellent mobility that you can’t achieve with any other class. Also, Havoc Demon Hunters start at level 8 rather than the usual level 1 like other classes. Havoc Demon Hunter is a versatile DPS that, as mentioned above, focuses on mobility and has strong self-healing capabilities.

As of the latest settings of The War Within, the Havoc Demon Hunter still remains one of the strongest classes. Proper management of Blade Dance together with Deflecting Dance allows us to avoid dangerous moments. During Mythic+ runs, the Scars of Suffering talent is utilized to manage threat.

Havoc Demon Hunter Changes in The War Within

While The War Within expansion became life-changing for lots of classes and specs, for Havoc Demon Hunter things remain mostly the same. Only some minor changes, with the majority being positive, will meet you when you play Havoc DH.

The most important changes are brought by the new WoW Havoc Demon Hunter talent tree with Hero Talents. These talents are made to add customization and extra functionality to the gameplay. Most of the new builds include Hero Talents, as they improve some of our basic abilities and talents, so you definitely should dedicate a bit of your time to learning these new talents.

Similarly, like all other specs, Havoc Demon Hunters now have access to the Warband Bank, which lets you transfer resources between characters and share gear across your team. If you’re having trouble unlocking this feature, our team is ready to assist and save you a lot of free time.

Changes to The Existing Abilities And Talents

In Patch 11.0., Havoc Demon Hunters received some meaningful changes. First, all your abilities’ damage is increased by 13%, which is quite handy. Eye Beam has been given a big boost, increasing its damage by two times (100%) so this ability will be even more powerful on both ends of the spectrum.

On the self-healing side, Lesser Soul Fragments previously provided 10% of the character’s health and now it will only be 6%. However, this is not a problem, DHs have never suffered from a lack of healing. There has been a slight change in the talent A Fire Inside where it now has a 30% chance (increased from 25%) to refund a charge of Immolation Aura that should assist with uptime.

Basics of Havoc Demon Hunter Gameplay

In the center of the Havoc playstyle lies the generation of Fury and its usage. This is a resource that is mainly obtained from abilities like Demon's Bite and boosted by special talents like Burning Hatred and Felblade. One of the most popular strategies is the talent replacement of Demon's Bite by Demon Blades in order to make the most of the global cooldowns for any other action or to reduce cooldown expenditure.

Several cooldown abilities are engrossed in the Havoc initial rotation including Eye Beam, Essence Break, Immolation Aura, and Blade Dance. These abilities are used as soon as they are ready (on CD), meaning that you always keep pressing the opponent. The tactical application of Eye Beam together with Metamorphosis forms the core of Havoc’s burst damage abilities. Combined with Essence Break and the Initiative talent, it allows you to deal an impossible amount of damage due to the overlap of high-damage segments.

High mobility is an in-built core part of the Havoc Demon Hunter’s kit. Even movements such as Fel Rush and Vengeful Retreat are well incorporated into the rotation to improve mobility and offense. The blend of Agility and attack power represents Havoc’s core gameplay concept: be mobile and deal damage.

Havoc Demon Hunter Rotation

This section will show you how to optimize WoW Havoc Demon Hunter rotation. It covers both single-target and AoE situations. We also provide advanced key points to help you maximize your DPS.

Single Target Rotation

Key skills for The War Within Havoc Demon Hunters in World of Warcraft involve two crucial gameplay loops for single target rotation. Proper execution of these loops is essential for maximizing damage output.

Rotation Steps

  • Fury Build-and-Spend Loop: Generate Fury using abilities like Demon Blades, Immolation Aura, and Felblade, then spend it with Chaos Strike or Blade Dance.
  • Managing Fury for Burst Windows: Align Fury with mid-range cooldown abilities such as Eye Beam, Essence Break, and Inertia for burst damage.
  • Use Death Sweep during the Essence Break debuff.
  • Cast Annihilation during the Essence Break debuff.
  • Use Fel Rush when Unbound Chaos is active and Immolation Aura is at 2 charges.
  • Activate Immolation Aura at 2 charges for Unbound Chaos or when Essence Break is near cooldown.
  • Use Fel Rush with Unbound Chaos active to trigger Inertia.
  • Cast Vengeful Retreat to activate Tactical Retreat.
  • Utilize The Hunt.
  • Use Essence Break when Metamorphosis is active.
  • Cast Death Sweep.
  • Use Eye Beam.
  • Activate Metamorphosis if Eye Beam is on cooldown.
  • Use Blade Dance.
  • Cast Annihilation.
  • Use Felblade if under 80 Fury.
  • Cast Sigil of Flame if under 90 Fury.
  • Activate Immolation Aura.
  • Use Throw Glaive at 2 charges.
  • Cast Chaos Strike.
  • Use Fel Rush if no other options are available.

Points to Consider

  • Eye Beam: Always use for cooldown in single-target scenarios. Enhanced with Demonic for follow-up. Usage frequency varies with Cycle of Hatred and Blind Fury talents.
  • Essence Break Windows: Plan around every 40 seconds. Overlap with Metamorphosis, including one Death Sweep and two Annihilation casts. Cast following Vengeful Retreat.
  • Inertia in Patch 10.2: Functions like old Momentum, creating extra burst windows. Aim to overlap with Eye Beam, Essence Break, and The Hunt. Limited uptime by Immolation Aura, with flexibility from A Fire Inside.
  • A Fire Inside Capstone: Strong synergy with Inertia, forming the “Ignition” build. Keep under 2 charges for value and trigger Inertia with Unbound Chaos procs for bonus Fel Rush damage.

AoE Rotation

In AoE scenarios, the Havoc Demon Hunter’s rotation is similar to the single-target rotation, but with adjustments to maximize AoE and cleave damage.

Rotation Steps

  • Use Death Sweep during the Essence Break debuff for enhanced AoE damage.
  • Cast Fel Rush with Unbound Chaos active to trigger Inertia, boosting burst potential.
  • Activate Immolation Aura at 2 charges.
  • Use Vengeful Retreat to activate Initiative.
  • Cast The Hunt.
  • Activate Immolation Aura if available.
  • Use Essence Break when Metamorphosis is active.
  • Cast Eye Beam for higher damage and AoE.
  • Use Death Sweep.
  • Activate Metamorphosis if Eye Beam is on cooldown.
  • Use Blade Dance for AoE.
  • Cast Sigil of Flame in larger AoE situations.
  • Cast Annihilation as an excess Fury spender.
  • Use Felblade if Fury is below 80.
  • Cast Throw Glaive if at 2 charges.
  • Use Fel Rush as a filler.
  • Cast Chaos Strike as a spender.

Points to Consider

  • Immolation Aura becomes more critical in AoE if your build improves it.
  • Essence Break is vital for enabling at least 1 Death Sweep. Use Essence Break right before casting Death Sweep to maximize damage, especially in demonic form.
  • Fel Rush can be used as a filler. Its impact increases with certain movement talents. Paired with Inertia, use it aggressively due to frequent casting of Immolation Aura.
